I highly recommend this simple tool to anyone: Roadkil’s Unstoppable Copier¬†(Linux/Windows). What it does is it will keep trying to copy files from a source (e.g. USB disk, hard drive, CD/DVD), even when it is damaged (no guarantee your files will be readable when fully copied, however).
